Fig. 2: Field with Edit Buddy. When you click on the Edit Buddy button with the mouse, it expands into the drop-down list that contains log of previous entries (Fig. 3). Select a line from the list and it gets into the edit field, just like selecting from regular combo-box.
Fig. 3: Edit Buddy shows drop-down list. Edit
Buddy program takes minimum space in memory and shows itself in the system tray
as a small icon

In this case it creates an extra button on the right side of the existing combo-box with its own additional drop-down list. It is similar to the regular list that combo box provides anyway, but with the very big difference -- you fully control the content of the additional list. One of the most useful examples for such placement is the standard Windows "Open" dialog box that is shown on Figure 6 below. This dialog is used by almost every Windows program and it usually lacks the list of most recently used folders. Edit Buddy provides such list.
Fig. 6: "Open" dialog box with Edit Buddy. It remembers most recently used folders. Edit Buddy works on Windows 95, 98, Me, NT 4.0, 2000 and XP. It respects new themes of Windows XP and makes its button look and feel appropriate (Fig. 7). Buttons do change dynamically when you switch between XP themes.
